KUWAIT CAR ACCIDENT PROCEDURES

Case: 

A car hits my car from behind. His car is full party insured and my car is on third party insurance.

1. Both parties, go to the nearest police station you had the accident. File a written complaint and you will be given a white paper (Case Evidence) 

2. Go to the other person's insurance company and show this paper. The investigator will take photos of your car and determine an estimated value for the repairs. You will receive the final copy of the estimates.

3. Get your car repaired. Retain all the garage and spare parts bill with you.

4. The investigation office will take time to get your papers ready from the court. I had to go to Dasman Criminal Investigation Center, opposite Holiday Inn, Sharq - 1st floor. It took 7 months for the court paper to reach here. You will get a paper on which you have to affix 0.500 fils stamp and get all the necessary signing and stamping from the office. Keep change with you as the officers will have the stamps with them.

5. Go to Shuwaikh Traffic Department, the one after National Guards, 4th ring road. Give the papers (point 4) and they will give you a final confirmation - Quick step

6. Go to your own insurance company and request for 'No Objection Certificate'. They will print and give you right away.  - Quick step

7. Take all the documents you received to the other party's insurance company. The officer there will take your file and inform you the amount to receive.  If your amount is above KD 100, they will issue you a cheque that can be en-cashed in a weeks time; else you will receive your amount on the spot. Please note that the owner of the car has to collect and en-cash cheque.
